![]() It is worth noting that only a small number of factions are playable in Rome, even when you complete the Roman campaign and unlock the other playable factions. There are a lot of cool historical references and climate outside Attila actually matters for a change, however gameplay is confined to Hopilite vs Hopilite action, which makes it all very repetitive very quickly.Originally posted by Smugass Braixen-Chan:There is no DLC in this game, aside from the 2 expansions (Barbarian Invasion, and Alexander) that are their own seperate campaigns and can be ignored.īut on the flip side, the non-Roman factions aren't as fleshed out as they are in Rome 2, so it's a bit of a give and take. Wrath of Sparta: i actually like this DLC since it has a lot of flavor. Hannibal and Caesar: buy if you want to play as those two characters and/or Syracuse and the Arvernii( or was it the suebii?) in the Gc. Perhaps its biggest flaw is that the non-roman factions are big letdowns, except Armenia and the Goths. It loses some points because it didn't make Etruria playable in the main campaign.Įmpire divided is pretty cool as well, some consider it better than Imperator Augustus, others do not. Campaigns: Rise of the Republic has the most diverse factions if we ignore the grand campaign and the map is amazing. Nomads: pass, if you want fun nomads get Attila. Greek cities: buy if you really are into Sparta as the other 2 factions are worse versions of the Diadochii Pirates and raiders is not very good however some of the hardest campaigns of Rome 2 come with that DLC (Ardiaeii being usually consider the most challenging in the entire game). Faction packs: Desert Kingdoms is almost a must have, it also brings 4 countries instead of the usual 3.īlack Sea colonies are interesting enough, only downside is Colchis is a bit underwhelming. Unit packs: never bought, they are pretty crappy if most of the community is to be trusted(and i think it is). The reviews on the DLC are a bit divided so this is my take regarding content from best to worst in each category. Think we missed one?
